As they say in their website: “Advent is the time of preparing to meet our God face to face in the person of Jesus Christ. This Advent, we will be going through the covenants made with Abraham, Moses, and David to prepare our hearts for the Savior and King prefigured in each covenant.”

So if you are interested please have a look, we hope you’ll be enlightened!

Practical spirituality

Laurence-Freeman

The Benedictine monk and meditation teacher Laurence Freeman will give on Saturday, the 25th November, a reading about practical spirituality with the title “Without the spiritual we cannot be sane”.

Freeman (London, 1951) became, after a short secular career, Benedictine. He is monk, priest and spiritual leader. As follower of John Main, he is director of the world community for Christian Meditation. Over the whole world he leads meditation groups. After that he is very active in inter-religious dialogues and also on world peace. He writes many books, of which “The Selfless Self” (Sprekende Stilte) is a best seller in the Netherlands.

In a time when one liners and confrontation have the upperhand in our society debate it is a relief to hear the simplicity of his speach, the silence, inner peace and needed mutual respect. The reading will be done in English.

  • When: 25th November, 19:30
  • Where: Janskerk, Janskerkhof, Utrecht
  • Entrance is free of charge
  • Language: English

If you are interested in attending please reserve by sending an email to: nouwen@nouwen.org
