This Holy Year will begin on December 8, 2015, the fiftieth anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council and will close on November 20, 2016 (Solemnity of Christ, King of the Universe).
An important element of this Holy Year is the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s in Rome on 8 December. The following Sunday in all dioceses in the world also open at least one ‘Door of Mercy’.
The diocese staff has decided to appoint three Holy Doors in the Archdiocese of Utrecht in St. Augustine’s Church in Utrecht (vicariate Utrecht) in the St. Calixtusbasiliek Groenlo (vicariate Arnhem) and in the St. Lambertus Basilica in Hengelo (Vicariate Deventer).
For this occasion, in St. Augustine’s Church, there will be a joint-mass on Sunday, the 13th of December at 10:30.
This is an opening celebration for the Holy Year dedicated for MERCY.
That means that, on this day, the English Mass will NOT take place at the normal time at 12.30.
